On 26 April 2023, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) released its Annual Report. Following the result of the consultation stage, the EDPS addressed its priorities for 2023-2024. They comprise (i) effective enforcement of data protection in a new regulatory landscape, (ii) challenge of interoperability, requiring an overhauled supervisory approach, (iii) international cooperation, (iv) rethinking EDPS processes to ensure efficiency in a fast-changing environment. Also, it highlighted the audit of large-scale IT systems (e.g., in 2022 Eurodac, SIS II, VIS) to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
